ONC’s feedback window for future USCDI versions closes September 28 at 11:59 p.m. ET. USCDI is the federal baseline for standardized electronic health-data exchange. Version 7, released July 23, added 31 data elements; ONC says 15 were already represented in implementation specifications used by certified health IT. During the open window, stakeholders may propose new elements through ONDEC or comment on existing ones.
DomAfina’s take: home-care provider organizations should use the final hours to flag the data that repeatedly disappears between hospital, payer and home—then back it with a concrete workflow, not a wish list. Ask clinical, intake and billing teams for one failed handoff each. If a missing element changes admission speed, medication safety, authorization or continuity, document who sends it, who needs it and what breaks without it. Standards improve when frontline friction becomes a precise use case.
